5 Top Tips to Feel Ready for any Race.

You’ve done the hard work, now it’s nearly time to shine! For that final hurdle, we’ve got you covered with 5 tips to help you feel race ready.

MAKE A LIST

Before you start packing, make a list of what you need. You don’t want any added distractions from you race, so pack to be prepared for anything, from rain to a post-race meal with your running buddies.

For a 5km or 10km race, consider:

Socks x 2 (trust us, you’ll want a spare pair for afterwards)
Racing trainers
Safety pins for your bib number
A change of clothes
Compeed plasters, in case for blisters
Bars…for snack emergencies!
Light raincoat
Sunscreen
Water bottles

And, yes, even if you wear one pair of running shoes to the race, pack a spare pair. You just never know what might happen!

PREPARE YOUR RACE KIT THE DAY BEFORE

The last thing you need is a race day panic when you find you’re missing your shorts! Have everything laid out and set up the day before, take a flat lay pic.

Charge your running watch and headphones The only thing you need to worry about on the day is picking up your number, staying hydrated and enjoying the atmosphere!

FIND YOUR TRIBE

The chances are you’ll have a cheer squad, friends or family supporting you on the day. Know ahead of time where they’ll be placed so you know where to look out for them for your mid-race boost. Never underestimate the lift that you feel when you see your loved ones shouting your name! (And prepare to pose for any cameras…)

ENSURE YOU DO A PROPER WARM UP PRE-RACE

With any race distance, it is important for your muscles to be warm pre-race. Try 15 minutes of running followed by dynamic stretching and mobility to ensure all your running muscles are activated and primed; you are less likely to come across an injury too.

ENJOY YOUR DAY

The biggest and best tip of all is to enjoy your race, that’s the main reason we do all of this running right!? Take in the atmosphere from fellow runners around you, make connections, pre-race toilet stop is a must, wish the runner next to you good luck and enjoy your run! Grab your medal at the end of the race, take a selfie then chill out for the rest of the day because you deserve it!
